b5media at SXSW- Updates
February 25, 2008
A few updates about out plans for SXSW. As mentionned before, in a million different places, we are renting a ranch just outside of Austin. We have a few camping spaces left, if anyone wants to camp there…but the house itself is over booked…which should be interesting. I call dibs on the shower first. Initially, we had announced that the b5 BBQ would be on Friday, March 7th, however, Bar Camp Austin is going to be on that night, and we are sponsoring it, so we will all be there instead (so everyone come out!!).
We are doing bowling on Sunday night. We filled up one team, but probably have more people interested, so whoever wants to bowl, let me know and we can put together another team.
Monday night is the Blog Network Camp which we are organizing. It’s more of a summit type event for others in the industry. If you would like more information on this, please let me know.
Tuesday March 11th is the new night for the BBQ at the ranch. This is open to all lovers of b5media. Please let me know if you plan on attending so we can plan properly.
My e-mail address is ed@b5media.com please get back to me with any requests.
Application from Standout Jobs

Does anyone think this guy would be a good fit with b5media?
Hello. I’ve read your job opportunity for “Online Sales Executive” and would like to speak with you further. I have a decent sales background, mostly with schools and childcare centers, however… am I intriguing you yet? I’d like to say that I write fairly well and punctuate with character! (The background that I have is in acting… in shows for children… improvised shows.)So, tell me what is it that you need me to do for your company, give me your model plan; I’ll work with it and make it my own and deliver a sales platform that will be phenominal (providing the price is right… kidding (that’s negotiable!)) Well I won’t work for a can of beans and a latte. :-) I’ve learned to adapt to different types of people (MANY different types of people;) giving me skills that could become an asset to b5media.com!Given the opportunity, I would love to become a part-time sales representative for b5media. I am currently involved in my own endeavors too: I have a couple websites (nothing fancy… yet) and am starting a theatre company to encompass four acting groups… (nothing fancy… yet either.) I have a bit of free time and I’d like to get on the phone and start marketing for b5media.I do not have strong ad agency connections in the NYC market. I do however have skills and drive that could get people to buy advertising (providing I know all your data (statistics and stuff) on the phone, I can e-mail information, mail packets of information, etc… Remember though; I adapt well…)Oh - AM I HUNGRY ? ? ? ! ! ! GIMME THE LISTS and LETS MAKE US SOME MONEY!!!…!!!By the way, did you see the passion in this letter? :-)Artistically,CW
more to come… Huh? Ya gotta read my resume… duh…RESUME:Now let’s see…hmm… (I’m thinking, can you tell?) A resume contatins information about the person. I’m choosing, per what I saw on standoutjobs.com, what I want you to know… (so far!) HaHa again. I’m creative and personal too. I’d like to say that I am the most creative person that you’ll come accross in your entire lifetime. No, I’m not one of those crazed-artistic-types. Yes, I’m one of those fantastic-artistic-types!! I do have alot of… love for the arts and am starting to fall in love with money. I think I’m going to ask money to marry me on Tuesday. HaHa. Uhem. I didn’t catch your name on the standoutjobs site, but I did look at the ‘About Us’ section on b5media.com’s site and saw a few names… Hi Jeremy Wright! (Crazy how some look like they’d be a CEO… and some do not. Kidding) How are you Salim? (Nice smile. Have you heard of Laser vision Correction? You wouldn’t have the burden of glasses or contacts.) Darren, Darren, Darren. Why are you not the VP yet? Still training… how long has it been? :-) I’m kidding Darren… I don’t know. This is my first visit to b5media’s site. It seems very nicely put together though. Shai, VP Community… Cool. Your picture actually reflects a bit of the directness that you’d need to keep the sanity between the b5 communities. Chad. Would you be my supervisor? Please! :-) Kidding - NO FOR REAL! Hi Aaron. So what kind of emotion can you get from technology? Can you get them to remember their lines? Does technology have a problem with memory? You look like a theatre director in your picture. Hi Brian Layman, Code Ninja… HMM… Hee-ya! … Ya! ya-ya … HEEEEEEEEYAAAAAAA! Hi Support Ninja; Corey Shaffer. Have they given you your bottle yet this morning? Kidding. How’s that degree coming along? Christina, it’s very nice to make your acquaintance. I like behind the scenes sometimes too, Christina… more drama… and comedy too, for that matter. Darcie, next time you have your picture taken… (ask me (after I’m hired) what you should do differently for your picture.) Hi Gabrielle. Gabrielle… Is that a sinister look? Oh no… it’s an “I’m-shy-don’t-take-my-pictures-look.” Laura, nice of you to be with them, I’m sure. Lee. YO! Wassup man? When you support, do you have to wear support hose or did I see you last week on yahoo with pantyhose? WOAH! I’m kidding people!!! Goodness! Mr. WPN… Where are your num(b)chucks? What are your cat’s names? Hi wife. Look at the (b) in num(b)chucks… looks like a chubby guy with a big nose… not you Mark… the smiley. HAHAHA… I hope you all are having a lovely day. I’m surely tryin’! :-) Artistically and all that other stuff,

I’d like the opportunity to create some fantastic things with b5media.com! Have a wonderful day and night and rest of your lives if I don’t hear from you. PS. FOR THE RIGHT PERSON, COULD THIS POSITION BE A TELECOMMUTE/MINIMAL TRAVEL POSITION?
The New DQ
February 14, 2008
Dairy Queen opened up down the street from us. Since we moved into this space in June, there has been a sign up reading “Opening Soon”. We all have nasty sweet tooths around here, so we’ve been sending scouts regularly over there to check to see when it would be open. FINALLY, it opened. We tested it out this afternoon. Laura and Darcie, being the only single people in the office, wanted to get a cake to celebrate their singleness. They were all out. ON VALENTINES DAY!!! So they decided on Blizzards instead. Laura wanted the cookie dough. They were all out. Jeremy wanted the Georgia Mud Fudge Blizzard. They told him he could only order what was on the menu. So he pointed to the big huge picture of it up on the wall. He ended up with a Skor. We assumed that because they were new, we would get heaping loads of the creamy good stuff, but none of our cups were full. Disappointing. It wont however stop us from going again tomorrow with the rest of the team.
Positive Attitude Wednesday
February 14, 2008
The real essence of b5media was on display yesterday for the first monthly Positive Attitude Wednesday. Prizes were awarded to the employee with the most positive attitude (it was a hug, given by Darcie, but no one wanted it, so no one won). And, the most negative person needs to buy Darcie a Blizzard from DQ (Skor). Chad lost (mostly by default because Lee already owes Darcie a Blizzard). So everyone was all smiles all day….pretty much like every other day. At least since I started here everyone has been happy…
Fun Friday
February 1, 2008
Ok, so b5media is the best place to work EVER!!! Late last night, Darcie sent an e-mail out asking that everyone bring in their favorite toy for show and tell. Yes, SHOW AND TELL!!! Like in kindergarten!!! Now, Jeremy assumed this was a similar prank to Hallowe’en’s, where she told everyone to dress up, but only Jeremy did, so he didn’t bring a toy. Everyone else participated though, even Jonas Brandon The winner of the toy of the day award was Laura. She brought in a dinosaur that ROARED! It was pretty awesome. Darcie tried to steal it, but that didn’t work.
